RE: Overnighting at Flying J in Beaverdam, Ohio

Not sure how one truck stop would be any different than another. Noisy, smelly, brightly lit etc. I'd prefer to just keep driving.
I agree, we have stayed at the flying J in bakersfield ca. To this day I hear them calling the shower numbers every time we travel. LOL

RE: Trying to find a glass cleaner that WORKS!!!

We have a friend that uses the little pink sponges with white on one side...for soft work...it takes off all the water spots, first he sprays 409 on the RV window and uses the sponge, rinses it off and cleans with the can of invisiglass, his windows are beautiful. Unfortunatley...I can't get him to do mine.:(

go to walmart and get a can of invisiglass. The people who wash rv's use it and it works great.

RE: Favourite Yuma RV park?

Sunvista is a nice park, spaces are kind of close, but nice people and lots of activites, and the foothills is a great area to stay in. Fortuna de Oro has a golf course as well as Westwind.
We will be heading out in January.

RE: storing items in Yuma

If you have a fifth wheel go to sew masters and buy a 5th wheel skirt, thats what we have and works great. I don't know what size your unit is, but our friends hung an additional awning drape at one end and stored items in that area of the patio.

Try Westwind or Las Quintas, both out near the foothills.

RE: Boondocking time in Arizona.

No problem...the snowbirds help me get in a vacation mood myself, lol. The whole attmosphere changes in the winter...hard to explain, it's just a feeling. The only thing I ask...drive the speed limit and put a smile on your face at the grocery stores. Otherwise have a great time while you're down here...:B
I know just what you mean about the grocery store, seems as though when my hubby and I decide to go to the store, it is visiting hour...carts blocking the isles while people visit...we do try to keep the smile on:B
As for the driving...lol..well, are you talking speed up or slow down;)Take care and enjoy your winter entertainment.

RE: Favourite Yuma RV park?

That will maybe make a difference, i would suggest you go down and rebook one for a month, or stay on the blm land for a few days and go look around, there are tons of parks in Yuma and since you want it long term, the rates will be different

There are some for that kind of money, but not many. Look online for Yuma rv parks, there in one called sunridge, also try the site below.

These two posts made me smile, all the rest of the world is heading to some part of Arizona for the winter to get the sun, and you are heading out:B. Let me say, thank you to all who live in Arizona for sharing your wonderful state with us snowbirds.

RE: Cold feet....in slow motion....

Andrea,
I think everyone feels insecure right now, but like someone else said, staying home will not make it change:D, so take off and have a great time. My DH and I are having some unpositive thoughts right now also, he is planning to retire in December and we will be taking off, when we think of fuel costs...we hesitate and say..do we really want to go there and see that. So far we have only decided against one place to visit, our friends just returned from a 5 month trip and showed us some pic's they took of it and we decided, lol, we don't need to go there:B
Again go and enjoy, there are lots of really nice people out there along the way and all are so willing and eager to talk to fellow travelers.
God Bless and have fun.

RE: My little Papillon Lucy "fer" is a thief

We have a Boston Terrier puppy, now 6 months old, she also has began her life of crime. However, she goes for gold and diamond jewelery, and toys belonging to visiting dog friends.
She is sly, and so cute she uses that to her advantage, when human friends visit, she nuzzles near their ears and takes the earrings..so far we have been able to retrieve them before she hides them.
I next will take her to the bank and she how she can work the tellers.:B

Those of you who are on your way to the Yuma area, where are you staying this year? We have stayed at Westwind and Fortuna de Oro in the past, any suggestions for other places? Thank you for any ideas.

RE: Which Fifth Wheel to buy?

Thanks to all for your replies.... we've heard some fivers cannot hold up to full timing. How do we determine which are full timing quality and which are not? Are there certain things we should be looking for?
We heard about Teton .... I actually asked a Carriage manufacturer rep at the show if the company was in good financial condition. Of course, he told me yes......
We have an Alpenlite, was in yakima Wash. Last time I went to the Website it was closed, said contact your dealer. Does anyone know if they went under also?

RE: Yuma, Az??

We have spent several winters at Westwind, very nice and has a small 9 hole golf course, however. their rates are a little more than other parks. We have spent the last two seasons at Fortuna de Oro, a very large park, all the amenities, less money, but the owners are not into replacement, repairs or upkeep.
The office staff is very friendly and helpful.
Hope this is helpful.

RE: Snowbirds - what are we going to do about next year??

I want to add this:
It would be interesting to see what is happening at the RV dealerships?
I would love to monitor their sales charts nationwide each month and compare them to past sales.
mtnman
I just heard on our news this morning that Dan Gamel RV already closed several of his sites in California, and now Mesa RV is closing his California locations, so I think the fuel prices have definately hurt the RV industry, also some of the manufacturers are laying off employees.

RE: Folding Bicycles

We aldo changed the seats out on our YEAH bikes, ours has a larger wheel than the older Dahon bikes. We only use them for around the campground, so they work fine.
